Infiniti has been revealing a number of theories recently, from the compact Q30 all the way up to the main Q80. Another theory is coming to the Detroit auto show in January, but this one will be a lot closer to creation, as it’ll preview the next-generation Infiniti Q60 coupe.
Our co-workers at Motor Trend discussed with Infiniti design manager Alfonso Albaisa, who gave them all kinds of advice regarding the automaker’s plans for next year. Motor said the Infiniti Q60 theory headed for Detroit on January 13 will be “very, quite, close” to the generation edition of the Q60, that will continue to be a coupe edition of the Infiniti Q50 sedan. Despite its new name, the present Infiniti Q60 (imagined) is among the earliest cars in Infiniti’s present queue, as it hasn’t altered substantially since it debuted as the G37 Coupe in 2008.
We anticipate the brand new Infiniti Q60 to show a considerably more avant-garde appearance in relation to the Q50 sedan, as it’ll want swoopy lines as well as a rakish profile to be able to generate any kind of statement among its competitive set, including design standouts such as the BMW 4 Series, the Lexus RC, as well as the Cadillac ATS Coupe. While earlier reports indicated that former Infiniti manager Johan de Nysschen rejected the new Q60’s layout, Albania debunked this rumor and said that de Nysschen was greatly involved in the design procedure for this particular vehicle from the beginning (before leaving for Cadillac, of course).
In a case these gossips about the close-production-prepared notion Infiniti Q60 are accurate, this version should debut sometime in mid to late 2015 as a 2016 or 2017 version. Anticipate it to offer the same 3.7-liter V-6 engine as the Q50, with both back- or all-wheel drive offered. Infiniti’s new lead-by-cable system that debuted on the Q50 could additionally make its way onto the Q60, although the lackluster response to this new technology may mean that critical software updates are in the cards. We also do not understand whether the high performance Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge model may lead to a Q60 coupe version to do fight against the BMW M3 and M4, or whether another Infiniti Q60 convertible is in the cards.
Watch out for more Infiniti news as we near the Detroit introduction in January of the Infiniti Q60 theory.
